‘Straight Shooting’ – A Peer Panel with a Difference

Date: Wednesday 6 September
Time: 11.45am – 12.45pm
Location: Manhattan Ballroom, Hyatt Regency on the Hudson
Lunch: Grab your lunch and bring it to the session
Cost: FREE

‘Straight Shooting’ asks a panel of injecting drug users from around the world, the awkward & uncomfortable, the hard and sometimes inappropriate questions that you’ve always wanted to know the answers to, but were too afraid to ask. Modelled on a popular Australian internet series, this Q&A panel with a difference, opens the floor for questions from the public. Gone are the pre-planned, politically correct, same-old same-old, guided questions we have asked and heard the answers to a million times.
This is your chance to anonymously ask that embarrassing, awkward, naïve, silly, compassionate and even stigmatizing question you’ve always wanted to ask someone who injects drugs, but never had the courage or the opportunity to do so.

A heart warming and eye opening session that will challenge the way we all see drug injectors – as the real people behind the stereotypes, that they are.

QUESTIONS: If you have a question you’ve always wanted to ask an injector, send it to just_ask@hrvic.org.au. Your question may be answered during the filming of the short video with the same name or you may see it asked and answered live at the panel at INSHU 2017 (which will be recorded for later viewing).

We would love for delegates to participate as well as delegate’s friends, family, colleagues and anyone else you can think of to share with. Questions are open to the public.

ANSWERS: If you are an injector (from anywhere in the world) and you are attending INSHU and would like to be involved or If you can’t be at INSHU this year but you would like to take part in this project and don’t mind having your face and your answers to the questions we will receive, on video for the world to see- (we are creating a short film as part of this project.), please contact Sam at HRVic in Melbourne Australia via email at samj@hrvic.org.au to register your interest and she will let you know how you can be involved.
